Promoting The Colosseum As we all know http://thecolo.com.au is an amuture online sports forum. That means we are not paid to run this forum. We do it as a hobby. This is NOT a negative. In fact it means we can allow alot more free speech than what a commercial site can as we don't have to worry about offending sponsors and advertisers. However the downside of an amature forum is we don't have a commercial site, that we can feed traffic from. BUT there is something we can ALL do to help this site grow and attract new members with new views (makeing for healthy discussions). We need to advertise! Advertise for free! How? We ALL have to do our share. The following points will give you examples of practical things you can do to help promote this forum to new users. WORD OF MOUTH You know someone who likes sport? Invite them to join our forum. Easy! THROUGH OTHER FORUMS If you're a member of another sports forum and you think we can provide an additional alternative to its members, try placing the link to http://thecolo.com.au - in your signature - in your profile - in a post (if allowed) If you think there is an interesting discussion on The Colosseum, that another forums members might be interested in, link to the article rather than cut and pasting it into their forum. This will bring us traffic and hopefully they will sign up and stay. THROUGH MYSPACE, WEB BLOGS OR WEBSITES If you own a MySpace, Web Blog or Website, include a link to http://thecolo.com.au and maybe write up a small little article or sentence to promote the site as a 'Great Sports Forum' etc. The more links we can have to The Colosseum Sports Forum on the more sites, the better we will rank in Google. Higher rankings in Google = More members! More members = More discussion! Why not add a single line to the bottom of your email signature stating for example " http://thecolo.com.au - Join our Forum and talk ALL Sports! " or use The Colosseum Invite (see below) to mail to people in your address book you think would enjoy being a part of our forum. MORE THAN JUST A FORUM - We have a WAP site for mobile phone access to the latest News, Sports Results and Weather http://thecolosseum.co.nr/wap - Our News Reel section has the leatest RSS feeds from many of the major Sports sites from Australia and the World. - We have a fun Off Topics section which includes jokes, games, babes, entertainment goss and more! - Tipping Competitions for all the major sports codes - An active Admin and Moderating team that really cares and listens to its members. THE COLOSSEUM INVITE Something we can all do to promote this great forum of ours. Copy and Paste this pre-written invite into your email account and mail it to all users in your address book that you think would be interested in joining our forum. Just replace: <INSERTNAME> with the recievers name (or generic title like "Belters and Bogans"), <INSERTYOURNAME> with your name or login name. Remember we all have to do our bit to build this into the best Sports Forum on the internet. Hope this helps :correct:
