My brother was driving to the Northern Suburbs last week and was cut off by a black SUV. Said SUV then weaved and darted all over the road so my Bro decided to catch up and put shit on the person for driving dangerously. Pulls up at the lights and proceeds to yell abuse out the window and beep his horn etc.

Window rolls down and one TC, pissed as a newt (or something) leaning over the steering wheel, hardly able to drive.

Carroll, Hodges, Hunt named by Broncos

By Wayne Heming AAP Tue, 30 Jun 2009 14:57:58

Barely 24 hours after confirming Tonie Carroll would make a surprise comeback, the Broncos have named the former international on an extended bench for Friday night's NRL clash with the Warriors at Suncorp Stadium.

Justin Hodges will also make a long-awaited comeback from a knee injury after being named in the starting line-up.

Carroll, 33, drew the curtain on his career at the end of the 2008 season after 216 first grade games for the Broncos.

But he has come out of retirement to help his battling NRL team for the rest of the season.

However, Carroll was not expected to run out until their following clash against South Sydney after the Broncos lodged his registration with the NRL on Monday.

Instead, the Broncos named Carroll on a five man interchange for the Warriors showdown.

Carroll will have his first training run on Wednesday morning.

Hodges will play his first game since suffering a knee injury in the Origin I clash in Melbourne following his failed bid to run out in the last round against Parramatta.

Hodges has been named in the centres with Steve Michaels for the Warriors game.

Hodges' return and Carroll's comeback could not have come at a better time for the struggling Broncos.

They have crashed out of the top eight with four straight losses.

Earlier, Brisbane received good news with Karmichael Hunt named in the team after being cleared of a major ankle injury.

And the club's other medical report was equally well received with prop Nick Kenny cleared of a season-ending knee injury after both players had scans on Monday.

Broncos coach Ivan Henjak named Hunt with youngster Josh Hoffman on the bench as back-up.

There were fears Kenny's season could be over after he was taken from the field in the 11th minute against the Eels with a badly-twisted knee.

But he was diagnosed with a partial medial ligament tear and could be back playing in round 20 against the Gold Coast Titans.

In other news, Israel Folau returns from a sternum injury.

Broncos: Karmichael Hunt, Antonio Winterstein, Steve Michaels, Justin Hodges, Israel Folau, Darren Lockyer (capt), Peter Wallace, Josh McGuire, Andrew McCullough, Joel Clinton, Alex Glenn, Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker. Interchange: Guy Williams, Lagi Setu, Tonie Carroll, Josh Hoffman, David Taylor.
Sad day for the Broncos :nono:
Not much different from Bennett bringing Smith out of retirement in 2005.
And that wasn't any better but at least Smith was playing football somewhere. Smacks of desperation.
The same things were said in 2005 (at least by Aaaayo), and we won a premiership the following year.

Smith made a decent contribution in 2005. If Carroll does as well I will be pleased. If he doesn't, then we will let him go, and not really be any worse off.
Smith was playing Q Cup at that stage which is somewhat a decent standard and in fact is still is playing footy

Carroll hasn't played a game this year. If you don't think putting a 33yr old who retired from football straight back into a team 9 months later with no footy under their belt isn't desperation your obviously blinded.

Oh dear Ratchy.

Last week we lost to the eels.

This week we beat the Warriors (comfortably) who are a far better team than the eels.

In his first game back Tonie Carroll played more than 40 minutes. Didn't miss a single tackle. And ran for more than 100 meters.
That's more meters, and fewer missed tackles, than Hindmarsh averages for the year.

And next week he will just have another weeks match fitness.

I bet you still label the broncos using Langer in '02 (after a similar period without football), or even Stacey Jones at the warriors this year, as desperate. Despite evidence to the contrary.

 Every time Ratchy picks a broncos downfall, I get just a little more confident we will win.

What will happen in our next game ratchy? PLease say Teo will fail, because I think he needs a big game.

Izzy gone for the majority of the season. Would be back for the finals but there wont be anything for him to do when he returns.

Makes his salary to game time ratio pretty bloody ordinary.

Agree.

What do the other players think when Henjack does that to them picking a guy who hasn't trained at all apart from the last month or so and not played a game.

Am i the only person who liked the move?

I couldnt give a shit if it was desperate, we had lost 4 on the trot and needed a change.

TC has always been a great player and our pack seemed to be lacking something extra the past few weeks. TC can bring that.
