Rest of Time XI: Sunil Gavaskar, Len Hutton, George Headley, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Garry Sobers, Keith Miller (capt), Alan Knott (wkt), Dennis Lillee, SF Barnes, Muttiah Muralitharan.
None of these purists would want Murali on their team.[/quote]The other curries would, dirty turds that they are.

Malcom Marshall was the closest thing they had to an all-rounder.
you just showed your real knowlage of this era!!!
smokin joe bowled a fair bit of off spin and dujon was rather handy batsman.

vivs odi bowling statistics. tests were not to good with an average 0f 60 but he bowled around 850 overs

dujons batting stats
5 tons, average of 31 which is all rounder stuff.

Oh ok, so in a discussion about a test team, all of a sudden Viv Richards' ODI bowling stats are of utmost importance.

So what about his 32 test wickets at 60 apiece - given that we are discussing a test team, I thought they would have at least some relevance.

Wicketkeepers don't count.

Marshall's batting ave in tests of 20 > Viv's bowling ave in tests of 60.

Then again, I have no knowledge of the era so what I said doesn't count.

im sorry phat you tried to impress these gimps with your knowledge and got caught out bluffing .
wont happen again.
however if you tried to find an all rounder in that windies side marshal would be 3rd on the list which makes marshal a shocking call from you considering the other two above hims statistics.

You are delusional.

Viv Richards averages 60 with the ball - double what is accepted for even a half-decent bowler, let alone a good one.

Marshall averages 20 with the bat - that is half of what was - at that time - accepted as being the bench-mark of absolutely world class for batsmen.

You're the one getting caught out mate by saying that Viv Richards' ODI bowling efforts translate into him being a test all-rounder.

Once more, Dujon doesn't count because he was a shit bowler. In fact, he didn't bowl at all - a major hiccup in his quest to become a test all-rounder.

You bell end.
