AN AMATEUR Aussie rules club is under investigation after admitting a stripper was hired to perform for the team in the change rooms "to gee-up" players before a game.

In the latest sex drama to engulf the footy world, representatives from Victorian Amateur Football Association club Prahran have been summonsed to appear tonight before the league's integrity sub-committee to explain the sordid stunt.

The incident, which occurred before the Prahran Club XVIII night match against St Bernard's on May 1, has outraged women's lobby groups.

Prahran Club XVIII coach Craig Berger admitted a past player organised for the stripper to perform for the players about 30 minutes before the game.

Berger said the unnamed past player had booked the stripper to help fire up the team.

"One of the past players set it up to gee-up some of the blokes who were struggling a bit, to stir them up a bit," he said.

In a further embarrassment for the VAFA, the incident took place at Elsternwick Park, just metres from the league's administrative headquarters.

Berger said he was only aware of the stunt when he heard noise coming from the change rooms.

"I was in the trainer's room and the stripper came in and I heard some noise and she was asking for music," Berger said.

"I walked in and when I realised what was going on, I said 'what's going on here?' and then left the room . . . they (the players) were fully aware that I wasn't happy about it."

Berger said he had told the leadership group the incident was unacceptable. "They said sorry and the past player who organised it wrote a letter apologising for organising it."
