How dumb was this years draft!!!

-Blair dropping just cos of his knees-despite no knee problems whilst at pitt. Surely worth a late first rounder at worst!!!

-Lakers trading away a pick that could of landed them a really good player
Blair dropping is no shock. He measured 6'5" in bare feet. He's not explosive and lacks lateral quickness. History of injuries. Weight and conditioning problems. Doesn't have the ball handling or shooting to compensate for his lack of height. There's a ton of question marks over the kid. For every Barkley, there's a dozen Byron Houstons.

I'm surprised the Lakers didn't take the opportunity to grab a point guard.

The thing is tho the draft was soooooooooooo weak there was no reason not to take a talent like blair. THe guy can play no question. In the 20's of this draft he was a steal!!!!!

Great stuff Gar.
really??? I reckon the Gibson is a retarted pick on a retarded player. I think that JJ was prob on par with anything at the #16 so meh.

Quote:

Round 1: James Johnson (16), Taj Gibson (26)

Round 2: None

Analysis: I think the Bulls had their hearts set on Tyler Hansbrough and were probably a bit crestfallen when they couldn't move up and get him. Like Hansbrough, Johnson brings toughness, but with a bit of an edge that could make the Bulls a little less comfortable. Gibson is skilled and versatile, but like Johnson, is no sure thing.

I think the value of Chicago's draft will be clearer once we see what happens via free agency with Ben Gordon and potential trades with Kirk Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas. There's upside here, but not enough to get really excited about at this point.

Johnson is a super pick, he is going to be a really good pick.

Gibson is a sold pick at 26, there isn't a whole lot available there. The Bulls plan is to be an uptempo team and Gibson & Johnson are both long and athletic and will fit in perfect for our system. Gar knows what he is doing!

I had them both going to Chicago in my mock draft: http://thecolo.com.au/topic/6602715/1/

Chicago Bulls — James Johnson(notes), Taj Gibson(notes)

Are these really two players that you want to hand guaranteed contracts to for the next two or three years? Johnson is athletic, no doubt, but at what point do we start to expect actual, you know, "production" out of athleticism when you're 22? Gibson? You don't draft 24-year olds. You don't do it. Unless they're 24 and absolutely dominating college ball, and he wasn't. And you hadn't heard of Gibson, either. Both players might make the rotation, sure, but with Blair still available?

Score: 4

I just dont know why someone else wasnt picked at #26. How good would a blair/rose pick and roll have worked

Blair is far too slow for Chicago.

Obviously there was something wrong with Blair (knees?). The Bulls weren't the only team that passed up on him.

- Celtics have reached an agreement with free agent Rasheed Wallace.

- Free agent Hedo Turkoglu will join the Toronto Raptors after spurning the Portland Trail Blazers. Turkoglu opted out of his Orlando contract last week when the team acquired Vince Carter from New Jersey.

Has got good potential, played out of position at the 2 in his first and only year of college which i think is why he slipped out of the lottery to the sixers. Has really really good height for a pg and apparently dominated on D in workouts with all the other pg.

From all reports he was a super pg in high school, so i think given enough time u will get a solid pg.
