we are there or thereabouts like we have been for 8 years!!!
played some crap footy in the middle of the block of 12 games we just played.!!
forward line becomeing potent, each defender cant take as much liberties as they used to, burton may be back in 3 weeks!!!

midfield solid, strong bodied and some youth that may cut sick this year, if not next.
defense well nothings changed!!!!!!

bogey team come prelim finals is adelaide, if they get there.
if.

a few injuries in the wrong place and we are fracked.
the split round came at the wrong time possibly as we are getting some serious momentum up!!!

15 of last year's GF side + 5 first year players v the Swans says it all...fantastic effort they couldn't even come close to repeating the next week v Brisbane, and haven't done many other times this season anyway...youthful inconsistency this season after a premiership season where the lineup was steady and we could capitalise...

6-7 more wins and we're in, and with a few big guns back we should make it, but that'll be the end of it...we'll do it, but it will be because I'm really not seeing anyone outside the 8 with the power to overtake us...but I can't see anyone in the Top 7 with a reason to fear us in 2009 if they stick to their game plan and watch their 2008 videos of our stars...no surprises in 2009 from the Hawks...

I'm hoping 2009 isn't a repeat of 2002, an injury riddled year after a surprise late September appearance in 2001...the forerunner to another wobbly season in 2003, and then a horror 15th place 2004, leading to a cleanout because the lineup touted as a top 4 contender in 04 clearly wasn't going to deliver again...I think we're in a far better position this time around though...

we're young, we're exciting, we're not gonna make the 8

we're getting there, some of the youngsters are really starting to shine and most would agree we are one of, if not the best team to watch, but we're struggling with injures and inconsistency

Great start to the season. Best thing about it is we are not relying on our guns and the lower ranked players on the list are standing up in a big way.

That being said I can still see improvement in the side to come, which we will need.

Incredibly inconsistent start, hardly a surprise. Should've won games against the Crows and the Bombers and we'd be entrenched in the top 4. Injuries killed us for a while but we've pretty much got a full list now and have actually won a few games in a row. Got our bitches in Sydney coming up this weekend and Freo the week after. 5 wins in a row would be a fantastic effort after what the club was going through a month ago. Should also guarantee a spot for us in the top 8.

Oh and Dane Swan should be leading our B&F :) the leading possession winner in the comp by a fair distance.

Not much to evaluate. Injuries haven't hurt us too much and if anything it is a big positive that we are still unbeaten despite missing nearly half of our best 18 at various points during the season.

On cruise control at the moment, won't really know anything until we play St Kilda.

We're doing as well as predicted and as expected. First 22 weeks means kcuf all and always did, we're just sitting around waiting for september to see what we're really made of.

2 weeks out so i revisit again!!
belief .................. we have a very young team, those young dont have the belief against the top sides of this league, they believethey are too young not good enough!!
pretty well all that holds this team back, if the skilled stadium game went a few minutes longer theyd of turned the corner, however its to late now to find that belief.
we may get to a pre lim we may not . if we do well again we still are the bogey team!
goodwin and mcloed will retire whether forced or not, there bodies are struggling!!
that leaves only 1 from the glory years
edwards!!

collingwood for me for the flag!

collingwood for me for the flag!
:o taking the piss or what??

Im scared to think of us losing another final (a thing that everyone else seems to revel in). I would be shattered to make another final and lose. Just the scars would be too bad. I think on form we are currently the second best team in the comp. We still have a crap load to make up on St Kilda, and we know what geelong is capable of when turned on.

My evaluation:

Super year for us, we have seen big improvements from swan, didak, thomas(lately), pendlebury, maxwell, wood, anthony, presti (has been a top performer, but super this year-maybe a by-product of better midfield). But generally our game has lifted and the consistency is soooooo good to have. I think we can win it, despite what i said above, i will be kcufing shattered if we make it and lose.

Geelong for the flag

With due respect Waratah, it was actually Geelong who came from behind in the end three weeks ago, so if the game goes a bit SHORTER you may have won.

I'm convinced that injuries and the fact that they were just so far ahead of all but one other team from a very early stage has caused The Cats to drop back a gear for at least 2-months.

If you look at the team that beat a desperate Swans outfit in Sydney last weekend, and you add...
- Chapman, Kelly, Milburn, Ottens, Rooke, Wojinscki, and Varcoe, then they suddenly shape as the awesome line up truly are! Give them another sniff at September, and they'll leave no stone unturned.

Cats to beat the Pies in the big one.

Still think the Saints are the ones to beat, but last week plus the likely return of some stars has me a little more confident that on a given day the Cats can take them.

And yes, I acknowledge reluctantly that the Pies are the danger.
