The Stig revealed Apparently former Formula 1 champion, Michael Schumacher, has been revealed at Top Gear's famous Stig. He removed his helmet during the first programme of this years series in Britain and was pronounced as the Stig. However, over the years since Perry McCarthy was confirmed as the original 'Black' Stig, the BBC have repeatedly stated that they use a number of drivers as the Stig. At the end of the show Schumacher was shown to commit many elementary driving errors in a lap of the test track, causing Jeremy Clarkson to remark "I'm not sure if Michael Schumacher is the Stig". This, along with Schumacher being credited as a guest star, separately from the Stig's presenter credit, both hint towards it being an elaborate joke. |

I watched the show last night and whilst I'm sure it was Schumacher as Stig in the Ferrari FXX as I doubt Ferrari would just let anyone drive one of these cars I'm not convinced Schumacher is or is one of the Stig/s. He just strikes me as too busy and the body language didn't seem right. |

FORMULA One legend Michael Schumacher has been unveiled as "the Stig", the mystery man who test drives cars on British cult motoring show Top Gear. The identity of the white-clad driver is kept a closely guarded secret, but Schumacher, who was Formula One world drivers' champion seven times, finally revealed himself in the first of a new series of the show on Sunday night. The Stig took off his white helmet to loud cheers from the studio audience, revealing himself to be Schumacher. Presenter Jeremy Clarkson pretended not to recognise him at first, asking him what he used to do before he became famous as the Stig, but then excitedly shouted to the studio audience: "It's Michael Schumacher!" Former Formula One driver Perry McCarthy was Top Gear's original Stig, who dressed all in black during the first two series. The show is shown in more than 100 countries worldwide. The original Stig was axed from the show after British racing-car driver Perry McCarthy revealed his identity in an autobiography in 2002. In January, media reports had claimed Stig was Ben Collins, who featured as a stuntman in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace. - with Reuters |

Ok, so they would film a 12 part series ofTop Gear over a period of maybe two months. All of the test track stuff would be done over two to three days for 12 different track segments. You can tell this because the weather is very similar in all of the test track segments. That means they would have to roll out 12 different super cars over two days with their respective representitives and enterage in tow. So lets say that there would have been at least two people per car there at any one time. So 24 people just to "mind" their cars. Plus and average pro film crew consisting of Cam guy x2, director, producer, soundy, make up artist, two assistants, catering crew (maybe 5) truck drivers 24 minimum. Therefore in two days of intense filming if MS was the Stig he would have been exposed to around 50 different people and not all with NDA agreements, such as truck drivers. Plus he would have had to have stayed somewhere, a local hotel? Anyway, my point is if MS really is the Stig, rumors would have surfaced looong ago. |
