I'm not so sure. Bowled consistently well ever since the 2005 ASHES series, then became quite ill in India (Jesus Christ what a surprise), which caused him to lose weight, speed and aggression. Came back to play in Australia very underweight and lacking stamina, and people were screaming out to drop him because he wasn't playing well, which was slightly ludicrous. I mean really, what did people expect. Then he had an ankle injury. This is the first time Lee's been fit since last year, and he is going to be one fired up man once the series starts. This combined with the maturity he's shown over the past three years ... I'm going to tip him to be our best bowler for the series. |

Well why the hell would they play him if he was bowling shit? You don't give out a test cap and say "You know what, you're bowling f*cking rubbish but because you are bowling rubbish as a result of injury/illness, you can stay in the team." If he is going to get his career back on track this is his perfect opportunity, bowling against an unsettled batting line-up in swinging conditions. As for the criticism and commentary of Hughes, of course they are going to be continually talking about it. Here is a little c*nt who is barely out of diapers who hit 2 centuries against the world's best cricketing nation in his first series on their own soil, who has constantly had the words 'next Bradman' hanging around his head (or alternatively if they read the Colosseum they'll have heard that Bradman was the 'first Hughes'), and he comes out in the first meaningful match of the tour and shows a blatantly obvious weakness against short bowling. Laurry, dropping your hands is effective if you do it properly and watch the ball. Doing it with your head turned and no obvious acknowledgment of the height of the bouncer is fraught with trouble. |

Because it gives no indication of what he can do when he is fit. You don't test someone with a broken leg and put down on his record that this is all he is capable of doing if his leg isn't broken. Lee's record when he's been fit over the last 3 years has been very good, he's just returned to full fitness for this series and early signs in the pratice matches demands a place in the Australian side. In my opinion, Lee will be Australia's best bowler this tour. Lee shouldn't have been playing last summer. He was clearly not 100% and all bowling him did was harm Lee. They also should never have played Symonds while he was injured either. They were two rubbish decisions that were made. |

Well obviously he's going to get picked now, he won the 'shootout' and he fully deserves his place. |

Just on Phil Hughes at the moment, it should be worth noting (again and again) that Harmison is only an outside chance of playing. He's not really in contention and I doubt any of the other English bowlers is capable of doing that to Phil Hughes. That was some really exceptional short ball bowling from Harmison that would trouble any batsman and we don't see that sort of stuff enough. South Africa should be watching that footage and hanging their heads. I mean, the SAFFERS are supposed to be the best pace attack in the world... |

Lee and Clark should both play imo. Hauritz did nothing that North or Clark and Katich couldn't do... |

Flintoff if he's not bowling like a pudding could do that to Hughes Keyip, of that I have no doubt at all. Round the wicket FTW. |

We don't bowl Lee it means we're bowling either Hauritz or Hilfenhaus, both hacks at test level and will be smacked around far more than Lee would. Hauritz and Hilfy are the Dizzy and Kaspa of 09, we bowl them and we're dead. |

Lee is a hack, and now based on one game he is supposedly up to it, nevermind the rest of his pathetic career  What a joke. |

3 years of very good bowling averaging around 27 and displaying surprising maturity, combined with a blistering practice match to convince selectors he's back to full fitness show's he's up to it. |
