And Jennings only played against France. Bit different coming up against one of the better teams. |

I just think he deserves a go. Hodges hasnt done anything to suggest Jennings shouldnt get a look in. But take Aces point as well, Hodges in the final for experience and defence (Naths point) might sway Sheens over elevating Jennings. |

Penrith Panthers centre Michael Jennings insists he can handle the pressure of the Four Nations final after grabbing a hat-trick on debut in Australia's 42-4 demolition of France. The 21-year-old bagged the first two tries of the game to set the Kangaroos on course for a comfortable win in Paris. Jennings, Panthers Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year in 2007, completed his hat-trick as Australia hammered home their advantage in the second-half. And after missing out on a place at the 2008 World Cup, Jennings admits he's desperate to play a part in next week's showpiece. "I've did my bit with my tries and I was really happy with the way I played but now it's up to the coach," said Jennings. "I was pleased, obviously the team performance wasn't as good as we would have wanted it to be but a debut hat-trick is pretty special. "A few guys were given a chance and I think it wasn't just me who made the most of it. "As a team we weren't great in the first-half but I don't think anybody let themselves down in the second-half. "We weren't flying by any measures but we were clinical and that is ultimately what you're after." The French held out for 22 minutes before Jennings crossed twice in the space of five minutes to set the Kangaroos on course for a comfortable win. Luke Lewis went over to score shortly after the break with Brett Morris grabbing two tries in five minutes to hammer home the Australian advantage. And although Olivier Elima grabbed a consolation score for France, Jennings registered his third try of the game before Josh Morris crossed twice to match his twin brother's haul. But after the disappointment of the World Cup final, coach Tim Sheens called on his side to step up another gear in the final. "We were ok, we got the win and we scored some tries but I don't think we really got going," said Sheens. "In the first-half we were too sloppy and there were too many times where we knocked-on or we dropped the ball or we missed the pass. "I made it clear at the break that I wasn't happy with the way we were playing and I asked them to go out and play like an Australian team should. "To be fair to the players they improved but I still don't think we really found our true level and that is something we'll have to rectify next week. "I don't think whoever we play we'll be able to play like that and win. "No disrespect to France but just because we did enough to beat them it doesn't mean we did enough to satisfy me. "I think Michael Jennings played well and when it comes to picking my team that will be in my thoughts." Agence France-Presse |

Hodges was man of the match in the Anzac test, which was only three tests ago. It's not like ha hasn't done anything at this level for ages. Jennings got a couple of shots at rep level during origin (once against Hodges) and didn't show much. Playing the French is probably about as good an indication as playing Souths. It wont be a matter of Sheens being swayed - Hodges will be one of the first picked. The only real competition for spots will be in the backrow and on the bench. I think Hodges is probably the safe bet and i wouldnt disagree with him being picked BUT its good to see a player who looks like he wants to be there and is willing to have a crack. Hodges takes his position for granted, i would love to see Jenko get the nod. Chance, you say Jennings didnt show much against Hodges? What exactly did Hodges show Jennings?? Like i said, i wouldnt argue if Hodges was picked but to say it was 'only france' is a total cop out. The bloke scored 3 tries and set up another, I realise Hodges is a different sort of centre but i doubt he would of had the impact Jennings did last night. |

If Jennings got the nod it would also add a bit of spice at Origin next year.

Agree with both of your posts. People here know I back Hodges but he isnt showing any interest in holding Jennings out. Some spice for next years Origin would be great, god knows it is getting monotonous. :agree: |

Hodges is a hog and should never be picked and he has done nothing in this 4 nations. Jennings might of played against france but don't forget Hodges played against the Kiwis and the Poms. so how is he going to do better when he done f*ck all against them in the beginning. i say pick either jennings or morris and depends who is picked Inglis can either stay or move across |

Naaaah.. I like the way Farah plays and he would be a more flexible option than Thaiday or Waterhouse...he could even play number 6 as well in the forwards |
