It isn't so much a lack of rain - the dam here is full so water ain't a problem. But we've had 3 or 4 really severe frosts recently that have just killed everything. It is generally a very nice course though - challenging enough (well lets face it, anything is challenging for me) but in good nick and it rewards aggressive play.

I was preparing to halve my golf output during the winter but was told during the week that the boss wanted sport department to knock off at 2 every Friday anyway, so I'm back in the mix. Fck I've been hitting it well lately, just having 2 real fck ups every round that are killing me.

I think I've said this before, but I basically aim at a bogey per hole, and usually over the course of 9 holes I'll slot a couple of pars and the odd birdie. Last round I played, I parred 2 holes, bogied four, doubled one and had two f*ck ups. The first was on a par five, about 460m, dogleg right, elevated tee. I carried the dogleg with my drive (I'm a big lad so I can thump it), and hit an 8-iron to right side of the green but maybe 10 metres off it, pin high, with a bunker between me and the hole. Duffed first chip trying to be too cute, duffed second chip into the bunker, caught the lip with first bunker shot, got out with second, then two putted.

It is just really annoying because for the majority of my rounds I play better than an average hacker (still not great or anything but adequately at least) but yeah, the scores never reflect how I know I can play if I were to put it all together.

Played some God-awful shots off the tee but my approaches were farking good. Hit the pin from about 90 out on the last - then naturally missed a 2 footer for par which would have given me 44. Playing 18 tomoz - if I can break 90 I'll be reasonably happy.
